The circle of life (DRAFT ONLY)


The circle of life is the name of Chompoo’s habitat. The circular structure constructed the shell habitat surrounded by the plants that help minimise the attraction from other creatures. The shell constructed half underground. This is also to decrease habitat’s attraction to other creatures and to maintain the low temperature for Chompoo.

Chompoo is an amphibian that most likely to stay on the land rather than water. However as an amphibian Chompoo needs to go into water sometime, especially to hind herself from the predator and other creature and when the temperature is rise high Chompoo needs to go into the water in order to maintain her body temperature. Chompoo is a small creature and only consumes plants. Therefore she spends most of the time in a day to stay in her habitat. Since her priority is to avoid being seen by other creatures. Being herbivore means she does not hunt in fact she is being a prey from some creature. Therefore Chompoo needs to maximise the safety for herself. And the habiat is the most important factor that helps her to survive in the environment.

The design of the habitat is adapted from Chompoo’s body structure, sphere shape. This is to maintain the relationship between creature and its habitat. As well as the colour shade of the Chompoo’s skin which is similar to her habitat. This is to involve her into the environment and being less outstanding for other creature.

The design of the shell structure is formed by the idea of the two famous architects, Kenzo Tange and Frank Gehry. The two famous architects’ design most likely to approach to the organic shape that influences into the architectures. The idea has the most impact to Chompoo’s habitat. As I try to keep the designing into organic form including the materials being used for the habitat. The idea of the design is to maximise the combination between the habitat and environment. The shell itself is made by an organic material, which is bamboo. Bamboo has an elastic property where bend into a certain point which satisfied the design of the shell. Also the dark green colour of bamboo is also similar to Chompoo’s skin colour which supports the idea of creature being adapted to its own habitat and environment. The plants that are surrounding the shell are vines. Vines have high ability to protect the habitat and hind it from other creature. Vines are a very strong and elastic in shape which can cover the whole shell and protect it from other creatures and avoid the shell from being seen by some predators as the colour is green and is similar to the surrounding environment. As the requirement to survive of Chompoo she needs to stay in humid place in order to stay in low temperature being half underground helps to support that idea.

The circle of life refers to the habitat structure hence the sphere shape and Chompoo, the small special life that needs to survive in the environment surrounded by danger and hunger.
